Account Opening Answers

What types of accounts can I open with DBS Vickers Online?
DBS Vickers Online Hong Kong and DBS Vickers Online Singapore offer Individual, Joint (Alternate) and Corporate accounts**. Individual accounts are opened under an individual's name. Only this person is authorized to access the account. Joint (Alternate) accounts may be opened under two names, authorizing all of the individuals to access the account. This type of account is particularly useful for married couples or investors who wish to share assets. Corporate accounts** allow you to control assets under the name of a corporation, and are suitable for business owners or fund managers.

The above accounts are available in Cash or Margin* accounts. Cash Accounts are best for investors who like to pay cash in full for each purchase. Margin accounts allow you to take a loan for the purchase of securities, using the securities held in your account as collateral. This gives you greater leverage when trading, enabling you to purchase more shares than would be possible on a cash-only basis. Margin trading involves risks, which should be carefully considered prior to investing.

*  DBS Vickers Online Singapore does not presently offer any margin facilities.
** DBS Vickers Online Singapore and DBS Vickers Online Hong Kong have     temporarily stopped accepting corporate account applications until further     notice.
